Revision 629 - (show annotations) (download)

Added changes to allow autotools build on ubuntu. There were some wrong assumptions
about file locations that I was able to correct using information in the
tclConfig.sh and tkConfig.sh files. This will need testing on Fedora/Unix/etc.

\`configure' configures this package to adapt to many kinds of systems.

Usage: $0 [OPTION]... [VAR=VALUE]...

To assign environment variables (e.g., CC, CFLAGS...), specify them as
VAR=VALUE. See below for descriptions of some of the useful variables.

Defaults for the options are specified in brackets.

Configuration:
-h, --help display this help and exit
--help=short display options specific to this package
--help=recursive display the short help of all the included packages
-V, --version display version information and exit
-q, --quiet, --silent do not print \`checking...' messages
--cache-file=FILE cache test results in FILE [disabled]
-C, --config-cache alias for \`--cache-file=config.cache'
-n, --no-create do not create output files
--srcdir=DIR find the sources in DIR [configure dir or \`..']

By default, \`make install' will install all the files in

Fortran compiler and libraries:
--with-fortran=F77,F77LIBS
The location of your Fortran compiler and its
library files. For example, under SunOS:
--with-fortran='f77,-L/usr/lang/lib -lF77 -lM77'
To specify only the compiler or libraries, leave off
whatever is not needed:
--with-fortran=',-L/usr/lang/lib -lF77 -lM77'
Use '--without-fortran' to not link against
any Fortran libraries
--with-blas=BLASLIB The full path to the blas library.
Use '--with-blas=build' to build the blas library
from the sources that come with the distribution.
--with-linpack=LPAKLIB The full path to the linpack library.
Use '--with-linpack=build' to build the library
from the sources that come with the distribution.
--with-lsod=LSODLIB The full path to the lsod library.
Use '--with-lsod=build' to build the lsod library
from the sources that come with the distribution.
Generation of Makefiles:
--without-tkdir do not generate Makefiles in the TK subdir
--without-models do not generate Makefiles in the models subdir
--with-quiet Much less whining if reinstalling the tk,models subdirs

Some influential environment variables:
CC C compiler command
CFLAGS C compiler flags
LDFLAGS linker flags, e.g. -L<lib dir> if you have libraries in a
nonstandard directory <lib dir>
CPPFLAGS C/C++ preprocessor flags, e.g. -I<include dir> if you have
headers in a nonstandard directory <include dir>
CPP C preprocessor

Use these variables to override the choices made by `configure' or to help
it to find libraries and programs with nonstandard names/locations.

##AWW
##AWW We put the .o files when compiling into a tree structure
##AWW relative to the directory in which we currently reside,
##AWW while the .c and .h files are in a similar tree structure
##AWW relative to the configure instruction we invoke. This
##AWW allows one to have separate .o files in their own tree when
##AWW compiling for different operating systems.
##AWW
##AWW Example 1 (same directories)
##AWW Current directory one is in: /home/me/trunk/base/unixAC213
##AWW Directory containing configure: /home/me/trunk/base/unixAC213
##AWW Command to invoke configure: ./configure
##AWW $ascpwd will be: /home/me/trunk/base/unixAC213
##AWW $srcdir will be: .
##AWW
##AWW Example 2 (different directories, abs path for command)
##AWW Current directory one is in: /home/me/trunk/base/newTree
##AWW Directory containing configure: /home/me/trunk/base/unixAC213
##AWW Command to invoke configure: /home/me/trunk/base/unixAC213/configure
##AWW $ascpwd will be: /home/me/trunk/base/newTree
##AWW $srcdir will be: /home/me/trunk/base/unixAC213
##AWW
##AWW Example 3 (different directories, rel path for command)
##AWW Same as Example 2
##AWW Command to invoke configure: ../unixAC213/configure
##AWW $ascpwd will be: /home/me/trunk/base/newTree (same as in Example 2)
##AWW $srcdir will be: ../unixAC213
##AWW
##AWW Key elements of the source tree are:
##AWW code/trunk/trunk/base/unixAC213/configure
##AWW code/trunk/trunk/base/generic
##AWW code/trunk/tcltk
##AWW where $srcdir is pointing to /home/me/trunk/base/unixAC213, the folder
##AWW containing "configure"
##AWW
##AWW Configure is located at:
##AWW $srcdir/configure
##AWW while the .c/.h files one wants are in:
##AWW $srcdir/../generic/compiler
##AWW $srcdir/../generic/general
##AWW $srcdir/../generic/packages
##AWW $srcdir/../generic/solver
##AWW $srcdir/../generic/utilities
##AWW $srcdir/../../tcltk/generic/interface
##AWW
##AWW Each of these directories contain Makefiles and possible
##AWW need to find .h files in the other directories. For example
##AWW the include statements are always of the form
##AWW #include compiler/slv3.h or
##AWW #include interface/SlvProc.h
##AWW
##AWW A safe include path should assume one is a directory with any
##AWW of these .h and .c files and one needs to find a .h file in
##AWW any other of them. The following paths should do it.
##AWW
##AWW If in compiler, general, packages, solver, utilities
##AWW .. for general, packages, etc
##AWW ../../../tcltk/generic for interface
##AWW If in interface
##AWW .. for interface
##AWW ../../../base/generic for compiler, general, ..
##AWW
